A Chat With Matthew De La Hay and Alex Hanson-Smith from inploi

Gen caught up with Matthew De La Hey and Alex Hanson-Smith from inploi. They are building a platform to connect the world’s workforce with its employers, and with each other. They think it should be easy for people to obtain information, to advertise and access job opportunities, to network and make connections, and ultimately to be better informed and more successful in their careers. 

Matt (CEO) is South African and studied at Stellenbosch University, where he was a Mandela Rhodes Scholar. He won a  Weidenfeld Scholarship to Oxford University where he read an MSc and an MBA, before co-founding inploi. Previously he has worked at the World Bank and in finance, was a co-founder of South African civil society/advocacy group InkuluFreeHeid, is an advisor to mobile mesh-networking app Tuse and was finance director of the Harambe Entrepreneur Alliance, an organisation developing the African entrepreneurial ecosystem. 

Alex graduated from Edinburgh University with an MA in 2014 after which he was a Regional Strategy Consultant at OgilvyOne (WPP) in Asia Pacific. In 2015 Alex founded inploi, @inploime helps great people find the best hospitality jobs in London, online or from a mobile phone. As CPO, Alex is in charge of product design, developing the user experience, creative direction and growing the inploi community through marketing & strategic operations.
